About AB Automotive
A one-to-one mobile mechanic service: qualified, dealer-trained, and focused on clear communication and tidy driveway work across Greater Manchester.
Training that matches the work
- IMI Level 2 & Level 3 — Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Volkswagen Group trained — dealership technical background on VW, Audi, SEAT and Škoda
- Main-dealer experience — procedures, tooling habits and standards from a dealer environment
Diagnostics are focused on Volkswagen Group vehicles. Mechanical work — brakes, suspension, servicing and similar — is still fine on other brands unless we say otherwise.
How a mobile visit works
You get in touch with the registration, postcode and what’s wrong (or which service is due). We confirm a price and time window. The van arrives with tools, oils and parts as agreed. Work is done on site, explained at the end, and invoiced clearly.
You’re dealing with the same person who quotes and who turns the spanners — no reception desk in between.
Driveway & access requirements
For most servicing and repairs we need:
- A firm, level surface — private driveway, allocated parking bay, or workplace car park
- Enough room around the vehicle to jack safely and work
- Permission to park the van nearby for the duration of the job
Minor diagnostic scans can sometimes be done in a permitted roadside bay if it’s safe. We’ll say if a job isn’t suitable for your location rather than force it.
Rates, call-outs & VAT
Labour is £70 per hour + VAT. AB Automotive is VAT registered — every job is + VAT and you get a proper invoice.
- Call-out £30 + VAT on jobs under 2 hours
- £0 call-out in Urmston, Flixton, Carrington & Partington
- Call-out waived on bigger jobs over 2 hours
- Basic and full services within 7 miles of home: no call-out
- Outside 7 miles: £30 + VAT call-out regardless of job length (fuel, insurance and travel time)
Customer-supplied parts can be fitted for a £60 + VAT fitting fee on top of labour. There’s no warranty on those parts — only on the workmanship.
Payment by bank transfer, cash, or credit/debit card.
Warranty & Block Exemption
Under UK Block Exemption regulations, having your car serviced by an independent qualified technician does not void your manufacturer warranty when:
- Work follows the manufacturer schedule
- Parts and lubricants meet OE / manufacturer specification
- The service is properly recorded
You are not obliged to use a main dealer for routine servicing to keep the warranty valid. We’re happy to explain what that means for your particular car before booking.
